Do Restaurants Need Mobile Applications

Do you own a smartphone? The chances of you having a smartphone and reading this are really high. Just as an example the smartphone market penetration in UK is 65%, which basically means that 2 of 3 people will own a smartphone. One of the most loved and used feature of smartphones is the ability to download and use third-party applications, which could enhance your phone, allowing it do to different things.

The most famous third-party applications include Angry Birds, Instagram (an application bought for 1bn$ from Facebook), Viber and a lot more. Just go ahead and check the application market on your phone and you can choose from millions of applications. Beside those every big site or services has built their own native software to work at least with iPhone and Android phones. That include Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Pinterest, Facebook. The trend is going this way making it a must for each business to have his own applications for smartphones which would make it easier for their clients to access information with the company.
It is still not so important, as users could go and check your website using their browsers, but for some businesses it could be a lifesaver. This is especially important for restaurant and hotel owners, as the most used services of their site include making online reservation and checking whether there is any free spot, plus eventually checking work hours. This information could easily be located in a mobile application, making it extremely easy for their clients to book a space.
An ordinary restaurant mobile application must include work time, menus with prices, the ability to make online reservations, contact information and address (being able to load the address of the restaurant with one click into your GPS software is invaluable) and of course having a nice and catchy UX design. Another option for having a smartphone friendly website is using a responsive design in your webpage, but that could be costly to do. You could also use your application to make it extremely easy for your customers to write positive reviews in local listings, like Yelp, Yellow Pages, Google+. Having more positive reviews in these places would mean more clients and better ranking in search engines.
Making the application available in big phone markets like Apple Store and Google Play, could be a huge help in your marketing efforts, as a lot of people use those markets and could eventually locate your application and decide to try your service. And do not forget tablet users. Even though they are not so common, still a lot of people use them too and they are just extra potential customers of your restaurants. Just make it easy for them to find you and book a table.
