Tablet PCs like the iPad, Kindle Fire and other flat, portable computers are becoming the most popular and fastest-selling digital devices of all time. In fact, according to recent statistics, traditional PCs (personal computers) will be outsold by tablets by 2015. The popularity of tablets with seniors is a large part of this story. Here are a few reasons why women over 60 love tablet PCs:
They're Portable
They are ideal mobile digital devices - they're light weight and easy to carry, and fit easily into most purses or knapsacks.
They're Fast
They have more computing power than smartphones, so it's easier to do more of the online activities you love to experience with your mobile phone.
They're Easy to Read
As we get older, many people tend to have a more difficult time reading off of small screens. Fortunately, tablets have bigger screens than mobile phones, which makes it easier to avoid having to squint.
They're Ideal for Multiple Media
Did you know that you can read books on your Tablet (using tools like the Amazon Kindle app), or listen to music online with services like Pandora or Spotify, or watch your favorite TV shows and videos (using Netflix or Amazon Prime's online streaming service)? Even if you don't consider yourself particularly "tech savvy" or you're not an early adopter of new technology, tablet PCs are an ideal size, shape and design to quickly get immersed in your favorite books, music and videos.
They Help You Connect
Tablet PCs are easy to fit into your life! You can bring one to your family gatherings or visits with grandchildren, and easily take lovely high resolution digital photos and videos. They are a great size and shape to share photos and videos with people when you're sitting around the table - you can easily pass them back and forth in a way that is not as feasible with a heavier, chunkier laptop.
They Have that "Cool" Factor
Have you tried a tablet PC yet? Even if you're a skeptic about technology or aren't sure how or why you would use one, most people are amazed at how, well, elegant these devices feel. You can easily find, store, and share so much information - whether it's photos, videos, or your favorite social media conversations - they are light, silent and reliable. It feels like being a character on Star Trek - using a tablet PC feels like living in the future. Who says women over 60 can't learn new tricks?
