Creating A Mobile App

by Susan Smith

When it comes to designing and releasing a mobile app specifically designed for the teenage demographic, there are undoubtedly certain things that you should keep in mind and implement while doing so. More specifically, there are a number of features and functions that you can add to your application so that
it will better appeal to mobile device users in the teenage demographic. While those specific elements will depend entirely on your application, here are some general aspects that you may want to consider including with your mobile app.
Social Networking
The teen demographic in particular is quite fond of any sort of social networking. As we have seen from examples like Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and the always evolving reach of Facebook, social networks are here to stay, and will likely only increase their online presence in the years to come. As far as appealing to the teen demographic with your application, adding any type of social networking aspect to the app is a sure way to entice such young people to use it in the future. Allowing users to interact with each other through your mobile app is generally considered a perk to teens, one that is also highly sought after. Whether it is commenting of each otherĂ¢€™s social networking activity, or simply admiring from a far, adding social media elements to your application is an exceedingly good idea.
Instant Messaging
If you add an instant messaging or other type of chat feature on your application, the teenage demographic will be more likely to use it. Just as they do with social networking, teens love to chat with each other, and if they can do so through their mobile device they will be even more involved. The more accessible a chat feature is to teenage boys and girls, the more likely they are to use it and increase their frequency doing so. Furthermore, instant messaging is a great feature to host on your mobile app, or even center your mobile offering around. Doing so will entice users more effectively, especially with the teen demographic.
Media Sharing
As you may or may not know, teenagers love to take pictures and videos on their mobile devices. Such media capturing simply would not be as appealing without the ability to share it, which is why teens are attracted to such means in a mobile app. Sharing media, such as videos and images is an increasingly useful way to attract mobile device users in the teen demographic. Teens love to take pictures and videos, but even more so, they love to share them with friends and family. Adding such a feature to your application will likely increase the usage of your app by teens.
Conclusion
Reaching out to the teenage demographic can be a tricky thing to accomplish. They certainly are not the easiest group of mobile device users to appeal to, however, they can be once you realize the selling points they are interested in. By adding social networking elements, instant messaging, or media sharing, you will be increasing your chances of better appealing your application to the teen demographic. Attempting to include the aforementioned elements into your mobile app will only increase your reach to the teen demographic, in turn, allowing them to more efficiently use your app, creating more revenue and profit potential for your mobile enterprise.
