Prolong Laptop Battery Life Tips

by Jack

The laptop battery life is an important selling point for many buyers. Most of the laptop batteries have about 500 to 1000 charge cycles. After that the battery will be hard to hold charge.
In tests, since the mobile devices users expect reliability and commitment,
laptop battery is heavily weighted as a criterion. However, battery does not last forever, after an average of 500 to 1000 charge cycles the battery will clearly lose juice. Then the battery maximum running time will be considerably reduced. Here we give you some tips on how you can prolong the battery life of your laptop.
Save energy in Windows: Windows already has good resources in order to prolong the laptop battery life. You can choose power plan yourself. In Windows 7, you will find this: Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Power Options. In Windows XP, you can open the Control Panel and then click the Power Options icon.
It is clear that saving energy in battery mode is the first choice. Because the operating system adjusts some properties automatically. So adjust the time in the profile after which the screen turns off when the laptop is not in use, and change it into standby mode. This option also sets the screen brightness down. But there are also many other things to be regulated, such as turning off the hard drive, the power of the processor and the graphics card when they are idle. It is advised that to use this power plan usually.
Get even more: Turn off wireless services such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when not in use. Also remove unnecessary external devices or media such as cameras or USB flash drives, instead they will comsume some of the battery power.
If you have a dedicated graphics card in the laptop, you should operate the laptop with the onboard graphics in hybrid mode, which is enabled by default in general. If necessary, the powerful graphics card switches, otherwise it expects the onboard solution of energy-saving. Nvidia Optimus provides an appropriate solution, AMD Switchable Graphics technology.
If you do not use your laptop for a long periods, the battery should be completely discharged. For extended storage, it is better to remove the battery and store it separately.
Also for the storage, we have a recommendation: The storage location should have a temperature of around 16 degrees celsius.
How to store your laptop battery?
Keep your battery in a cool and dry storage area.
Do not fully charge your rechargeable batteries before storage.
Do not store your battery fully depleted.
Do not stockpile your laptop batteries and avoid buying dated stock.
Never leave a nickel-based battery sitting on a charger for more than a few days.
Always store a lead acid battery in full-charge condition.
